MELROSE HIGH SCHOOL LEARNING COMMONS

Design work continues for the renovation plans for the 20,000 square-foot 21st Century Learning Commons at the Melrose High School.  The new Learning Commons will transform the school’s existing library into a campus hub for learning, innovation and collaboration.

Galvin Middle School Ribbon Cutting

The new Galvin Middle School in Wakefield celebrated its opening in November at the Town’s ribbon cutting ceremony. At the  invitation of the Wakefield Permanent Building Committee Principal Charlie Hay and Associate and Project Manager Chris Blessen attended the evening ceremony that included remarks by MSBA Executive Director Jack McCarthy and other town and state dignitaries. The final phase of the project remains under construction with an anticipated completion of summer 2015.

Stoneham Middle School Ribbon Cutting

The new Stoneham Middle School celebrated its opening last month at the Town’s ribbon cutting ceremony. Project  Manager Matt Barnhart attended the Saturday morning ceremony that included remarks by the MSBA’s Jack McCarthy as well as outgoing Treasurer Steve Grossman and newly elected US Representative Katherine Clark. Members of the School Building Committee and the community helped celebrate this exciting milestone event. Final site work on the project will be completed in the spring of 2015.

Maynard High School Achieves CHPS Leader Status

The new Maynard High School has been distinguished as CHPS Verified “Leader” through the Massachusetts chapter of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools. At the time of award, only two other schools in the state hold this distinction. This benchmark achievement is the result of rigorous creative scrutiny from the entire project design and construction teams, as well as committed collaborative efforts from the Town to far exceed requirements.  Additionally, the achievement secures an additional 2% reimbursement through the MSBA Green Schools Program.  At the time of award, only two other schools in the state hold this distinction.

2014 Library Journal Design Institute Boston

Tappe Principal Jeff Hoover participated in panel discussions at this year’s Library Journal Design Institute Boston, as well as led an extensive live design charrette for an academic library renovation concept at Towson University with Library Directors, local and from across the nation.
