Tappé Architects, Inc., was founded in 1979 as a continuation of the firm of Huygens and Tappé, originally begun in 1962. This ongoing practice is credited with more than 250 institutional and municipal projects as well as numerous private institutional, residential, and commercial commissions.

In 1979, Mr. Tappe was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and has been past President of the Boston Society of Architects (BSA). He served on the Board of Directors for the Boston Architectural College (BAC) and was Chair of the Continuing Education Committee. Tony was a visiting architect at the American Academy in Rome in 1997.

Founding principal Tony Tappe oversaw the firm’s work for over three decades prior to the organization transitioning to new ownership and management in 2000. Prior to 1962, Tony worked at Walter Gropius’s iconic firm, The Architects Collaborative (TAC), in Cambridge, MA.
